About Us

We believe that Christ instituted His Church during His Early ministry. We reject the teaching that His Church began on the day of Pentecost.(Read Luke 6:12-16, Matthew 16:18 and Acts 1:21 & 22)

From its beginning during the ministry of Christ, there has always been a lineage of true New Testament Church. Through the ages the Churches have been called various names (i.e. Waldenses, Paulicians, Ana-Baptist, and Donatists)

In 1639, Elder John Clark co-founded the colony of Rhode Island and shortly after organized the First Baptist Church of Newport, Rhode Island. This was the first baptist church in America.

In 1809, Elder H. Roller came direct from the Hill Cliff Baptist Church of Warrington, England to the Philadelphia Baptist Association and organized many churches in the United States. Among those were some in Arkansas and from there an arm was extended to Antioch Baptist Church in Portland, OR.

On July 12, 1936, as a result of a Tent Revival. The Antioch Baptist Churchof Portland extended an arm to First Baptist Church of St. Helens, Or. Our first pastor was J.W Black. In 1954, the church became known as the First Missionary Baptist Church.

Our church has extended an arm to a number of churches. Albany Missionary Baptist Church of Albany Oregon, Landmark Baptist Church of Yamhill Oregon. New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Aloha, Oregon, and Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Vancouver Washington.

In 2002, we built a new educational building in which we held services until 2004 when we finished our new sanctuary. We have a long and rich history of serving our Lord Jesus here in St. Helens, Oregon and we look forward to what the Lord has in store for us in the future.
